Emotion, especially pain, is one of the very best ways to rouse your prospects and get them to buy your products. While it would be nice to pretend otherwise, most of the people in the world aren’t like you. They aren’t motivated by logic or opportunity; indeed, most people respond more to insecurity or fear of loss than to possible gain. Emotion triggers nearly all buying decisions, and the most powerful motivators are pain and pleasure. Most people, in fact, are moving away from pain, in some way or another. That pain is usually caused by some problem in their lives that they want to deal with right away. Now, that pain may not be physical; it may be emotional, spiritual, or psychological. As an example of the latter, many people are willing to spend a fortune on things that they don’t strictly need just because everyone else in the neighborhood has one. Never dismiss the mercantile power of the need to keep up with the Jones.

Whenever pain is involved in a buying decision, it’s your job to identify the problem, stir it up, and solve it. This is the basis of the PAS formula, where PAS stands for Problem, Agitate, and Solution. That’s as simple as it is. You diagnose a problem that your target might have (like the classic “Heartbreak of Psoriasis”), and agitate them about it until they’re all but demanding that you help them. Then you prescribe the perfect solution: your product, of course, which is nothing less than a miracle. Then you rake in the dough.

PAS is an excellent formula, and we’ve all seen it used countless times. For example, do people really stink so bad that they need to slap on deodorant all the time? Usually not, but the marketers of deodorant agitate us about it so much that we make sure we buy their products whenever we’re at the store. They scare us into buying them. Like all marketing, it’s an example of psychology in action. Some of us don’t care to be manipulated that way; but again, all human interaction, and certainly all salesmanship, involves some level of manipulation. Plus, they don’t have to buy if they don’t want to.

You shouldn’t hesitate to lean on the PAS formula when writing your copy, because it’s an amazingly effective technique. Push all the buttons you can reach. Bring on the problem, then bring on the pain and agitate the prospect until they’re going crazy. As one marketer I know once put it, peel back the scab and pour salt in the wound! Jam the knife in and twist it! Really crank up the pain in the sales letter, really pour on the hurt, remind them of the consequences if they don’t act-and then rescue them by giving them your solution. Basically, you have to give them a headache, then sell them the aspirin; or to put it another way, set up a cognitive dissonance and then amplify it, until your product is the only thing that can fix it. Magnify their fears, tell people what to do but not how to do it, and then invalidate all other solutions except yours.

Often, people are fully aware of the problem they’re facing, so it doesn’t take much agitation to get them flocking to you for your solution. Sometimes, though, you’ll need to make people aware that they have a problem in the first place. As a kind of general example, most people weren’t worried too much about the passage of time until clever folks started building effective clocks and, eventually, watches-and then people needed them because they needed to be punctual. You can be sure that clockmakers and watchmakers made sure that people were aware of how much they were missing out on before they had something to easily tell time with. On the other hand, people may know they have a problem, but just don’t care. Your job in that case is to not only drive home the fact that they’re hurting, but also agitate the hell out of them so they’ll eagerly accept that handy solution when you offer it to them.

Your entire life, you hear people say, “You have to set goals for yourself.” I have said it and I know you have too. What nobody told us is goals don’t work. Do you know why goals don’t work? I am going to tell you and you will be saying to yourself, “I didn’t really think about that.” When you set goals for yourself, you are leaving yourself open. There are too many distractions out there to pull us
away from what we really want. If you are trying to get the hot girl sitting at the end of the bar, how many people are there between you and her? If you are trying to score a touchdown, how many people and how much yardage is between you and the end zone? If you are trying to make $10,000, how many people do you have to talk to or how much do you have to sell? Just saying you want to do something is not enough to get you where you want to be.
Good Opinions Always Lose Sight of where you originally want to be.
I love the outdoors, so I am going to use this as an example. If you are shooting an arrow at an archery range, you would try for the bulls-eye. You may not hit it on your first shot, but you will see how high or low you are and can adjust your shot however you need to. Not every shot will be straight. You may find the arrow goes a little sideways or may just flop up and down as it goes down range. You know you need to relax and control your breathing to correct whatever the issue is. It doesn’t matter what the problem is. Your arrow will always go down range and hit your target. It will not stop to talk to the arrows next to it or take a nap. It will never stop until it hits the target.
So whatever you are trying for, do not stop until you hit your target. You may need to make a few adjustments to get to the bulls-eye, but if you keep at it, you will always hit your target. I hope I have helped you understand why goals don’t work a little better. For more information on hitting your Target and to learn how to do so every time, get in touch with me so we can setup a definite plan of action.
Dedicated To Your Success,
John Rawlings

Those who struggle with what to write and how much to write will find this advice extremely useful. In a discipline driven by numeric requirements, the ability to respond clearly to ‘wordy questions’ can make a real difference to your marks. First you need to master the basic skills of outlining, identifying, describing, suggesting and explaining in order to pass the test. Then you can focus upon improving your marks with the tactics discussed below.

This exam advice comes from the challenging ACCA F5 syllabus – covering the necessities of performance management accounting. Using the Paper F5 exam as a model, the following guidelines will be important when being asked to establish understanding and knowledge of performance management:

In order to achieve higher marks, it is important to have the ability to…

Interpret

When you are asked to ‘interpret’ something, for example, the balanced scorecard approach, you are being asked to explain the approach in your own words and give your opinion about it. It is quite a high-level requirement that will usually be reflected with higher marks than, for example, ‘outline’.

Compare

The instruction ‘compare’ requires you to discuss similarities between two or more things and draw conclusions. For example, if you are asked to compare product costs using activity-based costing as opposed to traditional costing, you need to say why the costs are different. This will involve looking in detail at the activity-based costs and ascertaining the reason why the overheads absorbed into one product are, for example, higher under activity-based costing than traditional absorption costing. In this kind of question, ‘comparing’ needs to be preceded by a degree of analysis.

Discuss

This is a higher-level skill and requires a candidate to give their own thoughts on a subject, supporting it with facts and logical reasoning. The opinions you give in any discussion must be sound and well reasoned. It is no good saying that variances are de-motivational without explaining why. Also, you are expected to look at both sides of the story. The ‘discuss’ instruction is always a good test of candidates real understanding.

Evaluate

This requirement would not be expected to arise much in Paper F5. Most of the evaluation work is reserved for Paper P5. If you are asked to evaluate something, you are being asked to decide on the merits of it. It is most definitely a higher-level skill.

Justify

With this requirement, you need to tell the reader why a particular answer or position makes sense. For example, if you had to justify the use of backflush accounting within an organisation, you would have to mention the relative immateriality of inventory balances, presuming this was in fact the case (otherwise you would struggle to justify the use of backflush accounting in the first place).

Medical billing and transcription are two jobs that you can do from home. Each day, millions of patients are admitted and discharged in hospitals throughout North America. On top of those patients, many more visit clinics and doctors offices for checkups. Even with electronic medical claim billing, this type of work is beyond what most receptionists can manage. Thus, it is being outsourced to individuals who work at home.

Medical Transcription Overview

How can you get started with medical transcription from home? First, you need training and education. You can attend school or take online courses. It is important that you choose a course that is offered by a legitimate company. You need to learn the basics of human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, etc. You will study these topics in your training, just as long as you choose a good school or course.

To work as a medical transcriptionist from home, you must have

The ability to transcribe medical reports using correct terminology, proper punctuation, capitalization, and metric measurements.

Good knowledge of pharmacology and a variety of diagnoses.

Fast typing ability.

Access to medical reference material.

Good command of English and solid spelling skills.

The ability to describe various medical conditions.

Medical Transcriptionist Certificate.

The ability to decipher sloppy handwriting and interpret different accents and speech patterns.

Enough motivation to work independently without regular supervision.

Many people have the skills and qualifications, but lack the motivation required for working such a job. You must be motivated enough to work long hours at a decent pace. The more work you are willing to do, the more money you can earn.

Medical Billing Overview

Now, medical billing and medical transcription are not exactly the same things. With medical billing, you will be responsible for sending out bills to patients and collecting them on behalf of the hospital or clinic. If you work from home, you can use an electronic filing system into which you submit information regarding payments.

In order to succeed at this job, you must have knowledge of medical billing procedures, insurance companies, insurance payments, etc. Like medical transcription, you need to undergo some training if you want to work as a biller. You must not only review billing information and track payments you must also analyze patient records, negotiate contracts and payment plans, deal with insurance companies, and communicate with the physicians you work for.

In other words, just because you can do this type of work from home does not mean that it is easy. Training, hard work, communication skills, dedication, and motivation are required in order to be a successful medical coder.

There are many people who don’t know the way to get stated with finding a right product they are looking for. Well, we are here to help you out. Here you will be getting the best tips on finding the right product that you are looking for. Mainly there are TWO website which I can suggest you to go and check for the product details that you are looking for. The first one is globalsources.com and the second one is alibaba.com. So for now, you might be thinking how these websites will work for you or how these websites are helpful to you. Well, here is the step by step description.

These websites are nothing but very similar to yellow pages which include unlimited collections of factories. To make you people more easy understand, let’s take an example and explain the process “how these websites really works for you?” Consider you are looking for a business on old pages and how will you get the list of factories in China for your right product. It is always suggested to visit these websites and choose the main category, under which you can select the exact product that you are searching for. For example, you are looking for stethoscopes, which you are importing for doctors. In this case, go to the websites that I have already mentioned in the above sentences. Select the main category as “Health & Fitness” and then under the main category, you have to search for stethoscopes. So all you have to do is, visit these websites and run a search through the exact keyword on the product. This is first best method that you should try out.

The second option is to take the help of Ebay.com. Note here that I am talking Ebay.com which is completely different from ebay.com. In this website, you will get a large collection of products. So all you have to do is, first make up your mind as a consumer and not like importer. Visit this website and have a look at the wide range of collections. Here you have to decide the best product on which you are much interested in and the selection over here can help you import the best product. By doing such act, you can get the ideas on products for which people are more demanding. So remember to check globalsource.com and alibaba.com to get best information on products on which you are interested in importing.

Health and safety training is incredibly important in the workplace, without it many people would be unaware of the potential dangers they can come across in daily life. Obviously some jobs are more dangerous than others which makes it even more paramount to be aware of the danger if you have a job that involves moving hazardous materials. Here in this article we shall look at the health and safety needs of working with dangerous materials.

Hazardous materials health and safety training has to be very vigorous otherwise an accident could result in there being an adverse reaction with the environment and create danger to both human and animal health. Good safety practices involve material safety data sheets, hazardous materials labelled and up to date safety equipment.

Material Safety data sheets are an important aspect to training because they provide information to employees about the materials they are working with. They are also required to prevent unnecessary dangers that could occur if the materials were not handled properly. They also contain information about what do to in the event of a spillage or an accident that involves the materials. Managers need to ensure that these documents are on hand anytime they are needed and it is also important that manager encourage their employees to read this information.

When dealing with hazardous products in the work place then it is very important that they are labelled. Out of all the precautions that are put in place for health and safety training this is one of the most important. People cannot handle dangerous materials if they do now know what they are. When items are not labelled properly people are not encouraged to try and identify them if they are not qualified. The first instinct with unknown substances is to sniff them to help identify, but this is seriously discouraged because of the health risks that can occur from doing this.

Finally, one of the other important aspects to health and safety training around hazardous products and materials is the storage of them. New employees will need to know the different processes that ate set in place for certain materials as some will require specially made containers of receptacles. These will always need to be used at all times. Other rules will include materials not being carelessly mixed as they could react dangerously together. Overall, when it comes to hazardous substances in the work place there has to be many health and safety rules implemented to ensure the safety of those who work around them.

Having purchased a library of online Health & Safety training and risk assessment packages, few organisations seem to give the order and timing of the launch of the programme much thought. However, this oversight could prove costly in the long run, seriously hampering the take up rate of the training and leading to problems with the management of the risk data.

Compliance with the Display Screen Equipment (DSE) regulations is often the most pressing area of concern for office based organisations, especially for those that have received prompting from the HSE for a lack of action in this area, and is often the first package to be launched. However, DSE is a more complex subject to roll out due to the risk assessment questionnaire that follows on from the training course and difficulties can occur if users and line managers do not possess an understanding of the importance of the process for both themselves and their employer. This is required in order to gain their co-operation and encourage them to engage with the process properly.

With the advent of automated email introductions and reminders, course and risk assessment completion rates of 90% plus are not uncommon. Have you stopped to consider the resource implications of managing this amount of DSE risk? Do you have adequate numbers of DSE Assessors? Have line managers understood the importance of the DSE programme and bought into the concept of managing and following up a degree of risk themselves? Will they understand and be sympathetic to the additional work load that DSE Assessors, within their own teams, face on top of their normal day to day activities?

Having considered the resource and management implications of an online DSE programme, would it not make more sense to train line managers first? Not just in DSE, but to raise their awareness of Health & Safety issues and their responsibilities to staff who report to them directly more generally. Well trained and knowledgeable managers could then become powerful sponsors of any further training and assessment initiatives.

Following on from training for line managers, an organisation could move on to rolling out an induction style course to staff, giving them a good broad grounding in Health & Safety awareness, legislation and understanding of the safety implications of their own behaviour. Establishing a culture of e learning for safety training, familiarity with the products, greater understanding of H&S issues then leads logically on to the roll out of the more complex DSE package.
This stage of your safety e-learning project requires careful planning. The DSE risk assessment questionnaire, as discussed earlier, has the capacity to generate a certain amount of intervention from system administrators and DSE Assessors, who are required to review, manage and resolve concerns and issues identified by users. As identification of the risk is only half the story, it makes sense to stagger the roll out of the DSE package, leaving manageable amounts of risk to tackle and close off. Perhaps launch it by department or building, rather than to hundreds of staff all at once.

This may then create a ripple effect of buy in to the process as word spreads from departments that have completed the training and assessment. If I know of a colleague from accounts for example, who invested 30 minutes of their time in completing the DSE package and is now more comfortable as a result of issues from their risk assessment being resolved, then I am more prepared to engage with the process.

So rather than rush to address what appears to be the most pressing area of concern without proper consideration and planning, take a step back and think how best to utilise your course library to lay the foundations for a successful cultural shift to an online DSE system.

It’s a typical scenario; Mr. L has been comfortably supporting his family of five with an eighty thousand dollar annual income when, quite suddenly, he finds himself unemployed. His boss had been somewhat fuzzy about his dismissal; something to the effect of business being a lot slower than usual and, “the only foreseeable way right now to minimize expenses is to decrease staff”. The news had come like an unexpected gush of cold water on a hot summer day. Mr. L is now at a total loss; he has no source of income and no purpose to his day.
One day, Mr. L spots an alluring ad in the weekly newspaper: WANT TO MAKE MONEY THE EASY WAY? SIGN UP FOR OUR COURSE TODAY. The ad then goes on to explain the details of a day trading course and guarantees that if one follows all rules, he is bound to make loads of money. Mr. L, looking for a way to fill up his day and for a source of income, figures he hasn’t got much to lose and signs up for the course.
We now shift the spotlight to Mr. G. Mr. G owns a well-established family business of wholesale sugar and spices. Business is healthy and there is plenty of cash flow. His income allows him to treat his wife to yearly vacations and the occasional piece of jewelry. Aside from all that, he has a couple thousand dollars to toy with. One day he chances upon an article about a day trading firm that is earning millions on a daily basis. He investigates a bit more and decides to sign up for a local day trading course offering six consecutive classes.
Both, Mr. L and Mr. G take the course and enter the day trading field, the former to trade as a main source of income and the latter as a side income. They feel securely fortified with every necessary tip and highly confident about their day trading abilities. It takes a mere month or two and things start to go awry. Mr. L. begins with one successful trade and having not tasted sweet success for a while, becomes heady, and as a result, makes some rash moves. Mr. G., on the other hand, initially incurs a monetary loss and becomes overcautious with every move, thus inhibiting him from making any successful day trades.
During their classes, the instructor had made everything seem so logical, so simple and so attainable. Where had they gone wrong? After sitting through roughly thirty hours of classes by a so-called experienced instructor, why aren’t they succeeding?
Mr. L. and Mr. G might have been informed of the fact that they must remain disciplined throughout day trading, but they are totally ignorant of the fact that it is an impossible feat for a human being. Though their instructor had waxed poetic how discipline brings bountiful profit, we have discussed earlier that people fall prey to their emotions very easily. Mr. L or Mr. G might make every possible attempt to be disciplined, but will soon realize that their emotions keep overtaking time and time again. After a short while, out of sheer frustration, they will probably just drop day trading altogether.
Failure could have easily been avoided had they been forewarned about the importance of group day trading. Next week’s article will explain just how crucial it is to day trade as a group unit.
This article is shared with you by “Trademark Academy”, an institution that offers detailed courses on day trading, including exclusive techniques to increase chances for success.

What is mLearning?

In its purest form, mobile learning (mLearning) is “learning that happens when the learner takes advantage of the learning opportunities offered by mobile technologies” (Glew, et al. 2003). In layman’s terms, it’s micro learning: training tidbits delivered via a mobile device such as a Smartphone, MP3 player, netbook, Kindle, iPad, etc. mLearning is also predicted to be one of the top trends in the learning field in 2010. For the past few years, mLearning has been on the cusp of becoming mainstream. But with new technologies and the wide availability and use of mobile devices, particularly those that are web-enabled, mLearning is finally about to realize its full potential.
Types of mLearning can be put into three general buckets: formal, informal and self-directed. Formal learning consists of learning organized by triggered notification and reminders, such as SMS messages asking employees to confirm understanding or participation in an event/completion of assignment. E-learning courseware also falls into formal mLearning. Informal learning includes strategies such as interactive messaging, fostering two-way communication, soliciting user feedback or data collection. Lastly, self-directed learning consists of user-directed learning, reviewing reference/performance support materials, content and courseware, media-based content such as podcasts or videos.

Where is mLearning going?

mLearning is expanding and reaching the general population. It is expected that mobile learning projects delivered in established and emerging global markets will outnumber those delivered in North America (USA/Canada) due to greater interest, faster uptake and willingness to leverage mLearning on both basic feature phones as well as advanced smartphones.
(Robert Gadd, President & Chief Mobile Officer for OnPoint Digital).

How, you ask? Well, technologies such as HTML5 and cloud computing will make it easier for people to access interactive, engaging content. Training and talent development teams will fully embrace these technologies, provided their budgets accommodate them. HTML5 will make rich media playback on mobile devices more practical and compelling too, reducing the need for Flash-based content on mobile, although its use in mLearning is still so new there will be changes before a standard is set. Cloud computing will enable mobile device management that are connected to the cloud, but not regularly connected to a private corporate network. There is also discussion about how Smartphone apps that currently live on a given device may in the future live in the cloud and be accessed via the Internet. The cloud will thus flatten the app industry and material could be created once and then accessed by any device (http://www.fiercewireless.com/story/cloud-computing-quiet-requirement-mobile/2010-05-04).

mLearning will meld with social networking on every learner’s mobile device, making the two technologies a fully integrated experience. Support for these two technologies will be an essential part of every mlearning vendor’s core offerings. Not providing a combined experience for the learner will alienate a large part of the audience.

Another mLearning trend is location-based learning. Location-based learning is taking advantage of a learner’s physical location and their GPS-enabled device to provide teaching in the moment. An example would be a sales person getting key information on a city he’s never visited while entering the office building of a potential client (
http://id.ome.ksu.edu/blog/2010/jan/7/location-based-learning/)

Lastly, touch screen functionality will open up interactivity in mLearning. Touch screens allow much more rich interaction than a QWERTY keyboard and leaps and bounds more rich than the old-school traditional keypad.

Benefits

mLearning offers many benefits for your audience, and you.

It provides an easy way to get current, up-to-date information pushed out to your audience.

It accelerates reinforcement of training courses and follow-up strategies.

It gets training to a population who otherwise may not fully participate in training.

It is efficient; learners can do it on own time and at their own pace.

It provides increased productivity and revenue because of time saved from other training methods.

Tools

There are quite a few mobile SDK’s and API’s currently available. There are many approaches when it comes to mobile development, each with its own advantages and shortcomings. The mobile industry is dramatically evolving as devices like Kindle and iPad make their way onto the scene. The downside to all these changes and the increase in device diversity is the difficulty in finding a one-size-fits-all solution. There are two approaches to developing applications for mobile devices: developing standalone applications and/or developing applications that capitalize on the device’s built-in web browsers. Browser applications possess a greater ability to target a wider spectrum of devices, but a lesser ability to tap in to the native hardware and software features of a user’s device such as the GPS or accelerometer functionality.

For more information about specific mLearning development tools along with the pros and cons, please see the mLearning_whitepaper mLearning for Product Training – Benefits, Tools and Tradeoffs.

Tradeoffs

To make mLearning effective, it needs to be short, accessible and relevant. Think of it as performance support. This is a tradeoff for learning professionals.

To make mLearning most effective, these strategies should be employed.

Rethink instructional design/content development

Text should be short and concise. This is not the place to expand on the theory of relativity.

Course length should not exceed 5 to 10 minutes, at most. Think about it: would you really want to spend 30 minutes staring at your Smartphone, trying to learn, while crammed like a sardine on the subway during rush hour? Will learners have remembered their headphones in the rush to get out of the door? Likely not. Do users of mobile devices have long lengths of time to participate in a learning activity? Generally not; they will use mLearning as a way to get information and reference material, tips and activities prior to meeting with that new client for the first time.

Simplify visual design

“Training via the BlackBerry succeeds or fails based on design. The technology can be revolutionary, yet if people can’t pick it up and use it with little to no explanation, then they won’t use it.” -Eren Rosenfeld, Director of Global Markets and Investment Banking Learning and Development, Merrill Lynch.

Screen layouts should work with or without graphics.

Use images as infrequently as possible and only where contextually relevant. Many mobile devices only have access to low bandwidth services, so download time may be very slow. Also, some users pay per KB of mobile web data.

Make images or other graphic elements small. If an image is too large, the user will need to scroll horizontally or vertically to see the whole thing. Some mobile devices don’t support vertical scrolling, resulting in a frustrating cut off image.

Avoid background images or graphics. They can make it difficult to read the screen in some types of lighting. Ambient light will vary depending upon whether a user is indoors or outdoors.

Fonts are extremely limited on mobile devices. While a desktop machine or laptop has many fonts, a mobile device may only have two. Don’t count on differentiation between fonts to make any sort of important point. Geneva and Verdana are both optimized for small resolution screens and are good choices.

Avoid subtle font color distinctions and keep the color contrast high for fonts.

Do not embed text in graphics. Often screens will be too small for the text to be readable.
